Calas de Mallorca is a purpose-built holiday resort, with good beaches and lots of shops and restaurants. It's a good place for families, as all the amenities are close at hand and it's a quiet and friendly place, but the nightlife is there if you want it.
Location:
Calas de Majorca is located on the east coast of Mallorca. Transfer from
the Airport is approximately 1h 15 minutes.
Where to go:
Public transport is limited, so car hire is recommended. You can hire a
bike in the resort if you decide to see the sights in the countryside
around Calas de Mallorca. Don't miss the little market town of Felanitx,
and the pretty fishing harbour in Porto Colom. The "East is East" event
is a great way to take in all that Mallorca's stunning east coast has
to offer.
Beaches:
There are three bays which make up this resort, all with fine white sand
and crystal clear waters, although the main beaches can be quite a hike
and they do get crowded in the summer months. The main beach, Cala Domingos
Grans has a blue flag for cleanliness and facilities. There's a beach
bar and you can hire sunloungers, parasols and pedalos plus there's windsurfing
available.
Entertainment:
If you are looking for all day activities ensure that these are available
at your hotel before booking. Evening entertainment is mainly hotel based,
although the resort does have a small number of bars with live music.
As with most of the east coast resorts, Calas de Mallorca attracts families.
Attractions:
The Exotic Parque Los Pajaros has all sorts of animals to keep the children
entertained– they’ll love the acrobatic parrots! It's just
outside the resort, and is open from 10:00 until 19:00. Kids will love
the adventure playground next to Burger King, with its trampolines, mini
go-karts and giant bouncy castle which is open from 19:00 until to 23:00.
Activities:
The resort has a reasonable selection of bars and shops concentrated at
the Centro Commercial, but little other family attractions or activities.
The Sunday morning market in the nearby town of Felanitx is one of the
best in Mallorca and well worth a visit. This is a good place to pick
up some local pottery.
Nightlife:
The lively Rock Cola bar in the Centro Sol y Mar attracts a young crowd,
with mixed music and a happy hour that lasts from 20:00 until 01:00.
It's mostly British dance music at Jupiter's disco bar, which only really
gets into full swing after midnight. Panaramix has a good blend of music,
but is more Spanish orientated.
