Mallorca (Majorca) Overview

Mallorca is the largest of the Balearic Islands, situated off the east coast of mainland Spain in the Mediterranean sea. There's far more to Mallorca (Majorca) than sun, sea and sand, it is an island of stunning natural beauty and has something to offer everyone. For years Mallorca has been very popular with cyclists, walkers and bird watchers as well as the package tourist. Now, with a number of A-list celebrities and Royals having homes in Mallorca it has established itself as a luxury holiday destination.

Top Ten things to do in Majorca

1) Take the train to Soller, stroll around the cobbled streets, stop for a coffee at one of the many cafes and then take the tram down to the port of Soller.

2) Spend a lazy afternoon relaxing on the beach at Sant Elm, then watch the sunset over Majorca's largest Island (Dragonera) from one of the many waterfront restaurants.

3) Explore the streets of Mallorca's old town, La Lonca. Stop off at one of the many tapas bars and try some typical mallorquin delicacies. Try Palma's top cocktail bar, Abaco, for a nightcap or, if you're feeling lively head for Tito's.

4) Head down to Puerto Portals, Majorca's most exclusive port. Enjoy a sangria in Wellies and watch the world go by or, maybe sip a cocktail at the Ritzi lounge.

5) Spend the day at Es Trenc, one of Majorca's most beautiful beaches (part is nudist, so be prepared!)

6) Take a drive along the breath takingly beautiful coast from Andratx to Deia, enjoying the many senic stops along the way. Stop for tea at La Residencia, a favourite with the stars.

7) Take a boat trip to the Island of Capedera, a nature reserve and home to the sea turtles.

8) Spend a morning at one of the many markets. The Sunday market at Pollensa is great for local produce, such as cheese, fruit and vegetables.

9) Take a walk to Torrent de Pareis, one of the most exciting hikes on the island. It is also a great drive for the less energetic.

10) Join in with a Fiesta. Sant Sebastian is one of Mallorca's biggest, celebrated in January, but there are also many smaller fiestas throughout the year.
